In Born’s notes on their collected letters, which he annotated before his own death, in 1969, he commented, “Today one hardly ever hears about this attempt of Bohm’s, or similar ones by de Broglie.”

Einstein mentioned Bohm again a year and a half later. The occasion was Born’s retirement at the age of seventy from the University of Edinburgh, and the volume of papers that was to be presented at the celebration.
